Bhubaneswar: Two days after being appointed as the general secretary of Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, party MLA Krushna Chandra Sagaria today resigned from his post.
He decided to step down from his post as a mark protest against party’s decision to remove him from the post of Congress SC Cell chairman.
Sagaria who represents Koraput seat in Assembly, however clarified that he will not quit party. “I will remain in party and contest election,” he said.
Talks were doing round that Sagaria may leave the party as he was removed as SC Cell chief.
On Saturday, Congress President Rahul Gandhi had removed him from SC cell chief and appointed him as the new General Secretary of the party in Odisha. Bibhu Prasad Tarai has been made Chairman of the SC Department
According to party’s national General Secretary Ashok Gehlot, Bibhu Prasad Tarai has been made Chairman of the SC Department of the party.
