Cuttack: The Orissa High Court today directed Odisha police to finish the inquiry into the attack on a lawyer by police personnel by November 9.
A bench headed by Chief Justice KS Jhaveri ordered the investigating officer (IO) to complete investigation by November 9. The IO has also been directed to report sitting judge of High Court Justice CR Dash on the development of the inquiry on day to day basis.
The next hearing will be held on November 9.
On the other hand, the bar associations across the State will burn aaeffigies of chief minister Naveen Patnaik. The office bearers of all Bar Associations will meet on November 1 to decide future course of action, High Court Bar Association president Srikant Nayak said.
The High Court Bar Association may take action against four high court lawyers named Asim Amitav Dsh, Milan Kanungo, Tahali Charan Nayak, Bansidhar Satpathy, who are the member of BJD legal front as they revolted against the Bar decision.
The lawyers’ strike took a political turn after legal cell of BJD announced to withdraw support from the agitating advocates and declared to resume court activities.
The lawyers across the State are on cease-work agitation demanding action against the erring police officials involved in the attack.
