Bhubaneswar: Gold ornaments weighing 128 kg along with other silver ornaments and puja materials are stored in the Srimandir Ratna Bhandar in Puri, the treasury of Lord Jagannath.
Responding to a written query of BJP MLA Dilip Ray, Law Minister Pratap Jena today informed the Assembly that he is presenting the data of 1978.
He said that Ratna Bhandar was opened between May 13 and July 23 in 1978 during which all the ornaments were enlisted. As per the list, 128.31 kg gold and 221.53 kg silver items were enumerated in 1978. However, 14 items (both gold and silvers) could not be enumerated for certain reasons during the time, he added.
The Ratna Bhandar was opened again in 1984. But no data of that time was received by the government, the minister added.
The treasury of the shrine was also opened recently on April 4. However, it was only meant for study the structural stability of the inner side of the building and not to enumerate the ornaments.
