Keonjhar: A man chopped off his tongue inside famous Tarini temple at Ghatagaon in Keonjhar district on Saturday as his wishes were not fulfilled.
The devotee identified as Dasrathi Jena of Thakurmunda area in Mayurbhanj district severed his tongue with a blunt blade. He was lying in a pool of blood. Temple servitors and employees rescued him and rushed to a Ghatagaan health centre. His condition is stated to be critical.
He visited the temple in the morning and offered puja. Later cut off his tongue near the boundary wall of the temple with a sharp blade.
Jena cited that the Goddess had promised him in a dream that all his wishes would be fulfilled. As none of his wishes came true, he decided to take such step.
