Maoists abduct village guard, 3 others in Kalahandi

Bhawanipatna: Maoists allegedly abducted four persons including a village guard from Lakhapadar of Trilochanpur panchayat under Bijepur police station in Kalahandi district today.

It was confirmed by South-Western range DIG S Saini.

The three villagers have been identified as Bisikesan Naik, Babula Naik,  Raju Harijan. The village guard is Khetra Harijan.

Sources said around 15 armed rebels reached the village at 12 noon and called one after another from their houses. Later, they kidnapped them at gun point.

Whereabouts of all the abducted persons has not yet been known. Security forces have launched combing operations in the area to rescue them.

The exact reason behind the abduction is still unclear, it is suspected that the ultras abducted them suspecting them to be police informer.

Bamsadhara-Nagavali-Ghumsur division of the banned rebel organisation is functioning in the this area which is closed to Niyamgiri hills.
