Maoists call for poll boycott in Odisha

Kandhamal: Maoists on Sunday have left posters and banners at Kandibandha on Baliguda-Daringbadi road in Kandhamal district appealing locals to boycott upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections this year.

On March 13, Maoists posters and leaflets were also found near Sukingia Chhak in Baliguda in Kandhamal district appealing people to boycott the upcoming elections. Maoists have been boycotting elections for past many years.

This time again, they have hanged posters at Kandibandh on Baliguda-Daringibadi road. In the banners, the Baghuna divisional committee of the CPI (Maoist) has urged people to oppose political leaders of BJP and BJD and boycott upcoming elections

Calling the politicians thieves, Maoists have asked villagers to attack candidates if they come for seeking votes to their area.

Locals were terrified to see posters in large number and police was informed. A search operation was launched and the posters and banners were collected.

Launching an attack on ruling BJP at the Centre and BJD in the State party, Maoists said that they were fascist.
