Phulbani: After a brief lull, Maoists once again made their presence felt in tribal-dominated Kandhamal district after killing an employee of a construction company, branding him as police informer.
They also torched three vehicles including a roller and two tractors of the contractor.
Around eight to ten armed Maoists barged into the construction camp and dragged out Rabindra Mallik, security guard of the construction company. They picked him up to a nearest forest and shot him dead. Later, the extremists set the vehicles on fire.
They also left some posters mentioning about their anger against last year police encounter in which five of their cadres were killed.
Till the last report came in, police didn’t reach the spot and recovered the body as well as the hand-written posters.
The posters were issued by the KKBN division of Maoists.
Kandhamal SP Pratik Singh said that police will verify the authenticity of the posters. Combing operation has been intensified in the area after the incident.
