Bhubaneswar: Former Dhenkanal MLA Nabin Nanda, who reportedly went missing since Saturday night in Kolkata has been traced.
According to his elder son Sambit Nanda, the former lawmaker was abducted by miscreants who stole his wallet and valuables before Nanda managed to escape.
Nanda who was supposed to return to Bhubaneswar by flight at 7 am today did not show up while his mobile phone has remained switched off.
The matter was reported first by his son Sambit, who immediately rushed to Kolkata to search his father.
On June 4, Nanda had a narrow escape after bombs were hurled at his vehicle while he was leading a people contact programme to Karmul in Gondia block of the district.
The incident occurred when Nanda was travelling in his SUV during the Dhenkanal Swabhiman Manch rally while his supporters were accompanying him on motorcycles from Deogaon to Karmul under the people contact programme. The crude bombs shattered the glass of the vehicle’s window but none was hurt in the incident.
