More rains in store for Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Widespread rainfall has been forecast in Odisha over the next two days under the impact of a Low Pressure Area (LOPAR) likely to be formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal on Saturday.

This may lead to heavy to very heavy rainfall in fourteen districts of the state on August 19, informed Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) at the SOA (Deemed to be University) Director Dr SC Sahu.

Rain would be experienced in districts like Nawarangpur, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput, Gajapati, Ganjam, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Puri, Jajpur, Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh.

But heavy to very heavy precipitation could occur in the districts of Koraput, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Nawarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati and Sundargarh on August 20 as well, said Sahu, adding that heavy rains might continue till August 21 in Koraput, Malkangiri and Nawarangpur districts.
