Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of the two Odia CRPF Jawans – Prasanna Sahu and Manoj Behera, martyred in terror attack in Pulwama in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday reached Bhubaneswar on Saturday.
CRPF and State police authorities, including Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Finance Minister Sashi Bhusan Behera, Home Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy, DGP Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Commissioner of Police Satyajit Mohanty paid rich tributes to the two martyrs, whose body reached at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here in a special flight at around 3 pm.
After the guard of honour was accorded, the bodies were taken to their native places in special vehicles. The last rites will be conducted with full State honour.
Havildar Prasanna and Constable Manoj among nearly 40 martyrs were martyred in the terror attack. Prasanna belonged to Shikhar village in Naugaon block of Jagatsinghpur district and Manoj was a resident of Ratanpur village under Niali area in Cuttack district.
Prasanna is survived by his wife and a daughter and son while Manoj is survived his wife and a one-year-old daughter.
Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will pay his homage to Prasanna Kumar Sahu at his native village at Shikhar village in Naugaon block of Jagatsinghpur district while Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram will represent the Union Government in paying tribute to martyr Manoj at his village at Ratanpur village.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Friday spoke to the bereaved family members of two martyrs over telephone and conveyed his deep sympathies and also announced Rs 10 lakh ex-gratia each to the family members of the two brave jawans.
