MS Law College to get university status

Bhubaneswar: Odisha government has decided to covert Madhusudan Law College in Cuttack into a university. It was informed by chief minister Naveen Patnaik today.

While addressing the BJD Lawyers’ forum which convened its executive meeting today at a hotel, Patnaik also announced to increase the Lawyers’ Welfare fund to Rs 5 crore  from Rs 3 crore from next year.

An academy will be set up for skill development of lawyers and courts will be established at all blocks to ensure justice to people at door step. Legal cell will be opened at every panchayat and legal assistant will be appointed to provide service to people, he informed.

On the occasion, the CM also appealed to the lawyers to take part in the ongoing Mahanadi Surakhya Abhijan in protest against the Central negligence.

At the meeting, lawyers’ forum convener Milan Kanungo presided over the meeting in presence of Law Minister Pratap Jena and Cuttack-Barabati MLA Debasish Samantray. State and zonal level office bearers of the forum were also present on the occasion.
