New Delhi: Being humiliated by the BJD, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi today formally joined the BJP at party headquarters in Delhi in presence of BJP national-vice president Baijayant Panda, Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Jual Oram Odisha in-charge and Arun Singh.
After joining, he vented his anger on BJD for humiliating him for last few months. “I was working tirelessly for the development of Nabarangpur. But for the last few months, the party neglected me in every aspect. I was not invited in party programmes. As a party MP, I was not consulted during discussion on ticket allotment. In such a situation, I feel that the party doesn’t want me or my service any more. That hurt me a lot and I was forced to quit BJD”, he told media persons.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Jual Oram, party national vice-president Baijayant Panda welcomed him to the party fold. “His joining will strengthen the party in Odisha. I welcome him”, Pradhan said.
“He joined the BJP after being inspired by the leadership of Narendra Modi. Majhi had developed a unique model in the country by uniting the Centre and State in developing the railway infrastructure in Nabarangpur and Malkangiri” Pradhan added.
Jual Oram said “Balabhadra Majhi is one among 3-4 MPS in Odisha who work for the development of State as well as country. His work for the development of ribal is also commendable. He has a great role in approving the Nabarangpur-Malkangiri railway line. His inclusion will boost BJP in State”, Oram added.
In a tweet, Baijayant Panda stated “Welcome to BJP! I know how you were mistreated & stymied from working. I look forward to working together for the development of Odisha and India”.
Majhi, who was elected to Lok Sabha in 2014 on BJD ticket, snapped tie with the regional party two days ago after being ‘insulted, humiliated in State and district level’.
