Naveen proposes inclusion of ‘non-violence’ in preamble

New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today opined that ‘non-violence’ should be included in the preamble of constitution, which would be fitting tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

He gave his opinion at the meeting of National Implementation Committee for Commemoration of 150th Birth Anniversary of Gandhiji in New Delhi today.

The meeting was chaired by President Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The brainstorming session was held to discuss the 150th birth anniversary celebrations. Prime Ministers Narendra Modi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Council of Ministers, CMs of various States, senior leaders, Gandhians, thinkers and eminent persons from all walks of life were present in the meeting.

The Ministry of Culture has constituted a 114-member panel to approve policies, programmes and guide the commemoration of Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary.
