Bhubaneswar: Odisha Food Supplies department has directed the Collectors to keep strict vigil on market situation as hoarding and black marketing of essential commodities has been reported from different places in view of cyclone Titli.
There is no need to panic over shortage of food. Adequate amount of food and vegetables are stored, Food minister SN Patro said.
Supplies officials have been asked to crack down on unscrupulous traders who are selling potatoes, onion and other vegetables at higher rates. They have also been asked to keep a close watch on the market situation and ensure availability of the essential commodities to consumers, Food minister SN Patro said.
The department has also written to all Collectors to keep a close watch. They have been asked to take action against black marketers and hoarders of food grains, sugar, flattened rice, potatoes and onion.
