Bhubaneswar: Amid difference of opinion among State Congress leaders over ‘One Man One Post policy’, PCC president Niranjan Patnaik today clarified that there is no such rule formulated in the party and it is only media creation.
Through a tweet, he stated that tickets will be given to a leader having winning prospect, in which youths, women and new faces will be given preference.
“One man one post means — one shall not hold party post and the post of an elected representative simultaneously. As the PCC President of @INCOdisha, I will ensure that tickets are distributed on winnability criteria, with preference to youth, women and new faces,” he tweeted.
Later iterating same before the media, Patnaik said “Only the winnability is the parameter to obtain a ticket. There is no such ‘One Man One Post’ rule in the party. This is a media creation. We have three working presidents. Shouldn’t they contest? I am the PCC president. Shouldn’t I stand in the election?, asked Patnaik who had not contested in the last election.
Patnaik further said a circular will be issued to maintain discipline in the party. Only concerned leaders will give media statements. No one is above the party, he added.
Yesterday, PCC campaign committee chief Bhakta Charan Das had also given similar statement that winning prospect is the parameter for a candidate.
