Now, Z-Infra CGM arrested for Rs 12 crore fraud

Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) sleuths of the Crime Branch have arrested Z-Infra chief general manager Soumendra Narayan Dalabehera for allegedly defrauding people of Rs 12 crore on pretext of providing land to them.

In the past, Z-Infra managing director Prasanna Patra and his director wife Rashmita Patra were arrested in connection with the fraud.

Dalabehera along with the MD and director had collected about Rs 12 crore from more than 300 people between 2010 and 2013 for providing house plots with all amenities at Kansapada near IIT, Bhubaneswar under Jatni tehsil at quite lower price.

As the aspirants did not get the land after the collapse of the deadline, one of the customers identified as Manoranjan Mishra of Bhubaneswar lodged a complaint with the EOW.

During investigation, it was revealed that at the time taking the money, the accused had the knowledge that the company has not acquired required land for selling to the investors from whom they had received the payments.

The accused, after collecting the money, neither provided litigation free plots with approach road nor refunded the deposited amount to the investors and misappropriated the same.

Earlier on August 7 last year, company MD Prasanna Patra was arrested and his director wife Rashmita Patra was arrested on January 28 in connection with the case. They are in judicial custody.
