Odia Lashkar operative arrested by NIA in New Delhi

New Delhi: An Odia man having links with Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist organisation – Habibur Rahman was arrested by the National Investigating Agency (NIA) today in New Delhi.

Habibur, a resident of Kendrapara, was staying in Riyad, Saudi Arabia. He was arrested soon after he landed at IGI airport in New Delhi from Riyad, NIA sources said.

Habibur has been produced in Patiala House court, New Delhi. NIA sought remand of the arrested terror operative.

Rahman is the handler of LeT terrorist – Shaikh Abdul Naeem who was arrested in 2007 for assisting Pakistan terrorists.

Habibur Rahman, who is affiliated to proscribed terrorist organisation LeT arranged shelter/hideouts and funds for Naeem for carrying out attack on the direction of LeT commander, NIA sources said.

Naeem had escaped in 2014 while being taken to Maharashtra from Kolkata for court attendance.

Naeem was arrested by NIA in November 2017 and has been since charged along with 10 other co-accused including Habibur Rehman by the NIA.

Naeem was entrusted with the task for selecting places for major terrorist attack.
