Odisha Assembly adjourned till 11.30 am over irregularities in conduct of TAC

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Assembly was adjourned till 11.30 am as Congress members created ruckus over irregularities in conduct of Tribes Advisory Council (TAC) meeting which has not been held for last five years.

During Question Hour, Leader of Opposition Narasingha Mishra, while putting a supplementary question asked the SC and ST Development Minister Ramesh Majhi wanted to know when the TAC meeting would be held.

In his reply, the Minister said the TAC has not met in the last five years when it should meet twice a year.

As the Minister didn’t specify the next meeting schedule, Congress members led by Chief Whip Tara Prasad Bahinipati trouped into the Well of the House and shouted slogans demanding holding of the TAC meeting at the earliest under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

However, amid the ruckus Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat tried to run the House for a few minutes. But he had to adjourn the House at 10.38 am till 11.30 am as the situation did not improve.
