Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election from Puri in Odisha.
Odisha unit of BJP has proposed the top leader who had successfully contested from two seats-Vodadara and Varanasi-in 2014.
“We have given a proposal to PM Modi for contesting 2019 elections from Puri constituency. But, party’s parliamentary board is the final authority to take a decision on our proposal. We would abide by the party decision,” BJP State president Basant Panda said.
Rumour were also doing rounds earlier that Modi will contest from Puri as he had chosen in the 2014 elections Varanasi, another prominent pilgrimage place of Hindus, as his constituency and the BJP got a thumping majority in the Uttar Pradesh elections. Later, BJP President Amit Shah had denied the speculation.
On the report of ABP News survey, Panda said “We are moving forward on our mission 120+ and we will achieve. We hope that we perform better than the survey.
