Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government will provide LED bulbs to poor families in the State to reduce electricity bill burden on their heads.
With such a decision, the chief minister Naveen Patnaik today launched a new scheme ‘Ama Ghare LED’ at Secretariat today. As per the scheme, the beneficiaries of National Food Security Act (NFSA) and the State Food Security Scheme (SFSS) will get four bulbs of 9 watt free of cost.
About 95 lakh beneficiaries in the state will benefit. The state government will procure 3.80 lakh LED bulbs for distribution among the beneficiaries. These will be distributed during PEETHA (People’s Empowerment—Enabling Transparency and Accountability of Odisha Initiative) camps scheduled to be held between January 15 and 20, Energy department secretary Hemant Sharma informed the media.
With quality light, these bulbs will reduce the electricity bill of the poor consumers, he added.
