Bhubaneswar: Under the chairmanship of DGP RP Sharma, a high level meeting was held on Wednesday here to review the preparations and security arrangements for Ratha Yatra in Puri.
The Rath Yatra in this year will be held on July 14.
A large number of police personnel will be deployed to give proper security arrangement to the devotees and tourists on Shri Gundicha Yatra, Bahuda Yatra, Sunavesha, Nabajoubana Darshana and Niladribije.
As per the information, a total of 145 armed police platoon will be deployed for the security purposes.
More than 1,000 police officers, 2,000 home guards, two rapid action forces, two swift action forces, two unit SOGs, one unit NDRF and two unit ODRAFs will also be appointed for the protection of the devotees.
Besides, during Ratha Yatra, proper security will be given to the kids, women and senior citizens.
Additional Director General of Police Satyajit Mohanty will be in charge of total security in Ratha Yatra.
Police will also impose traffic restrictions and introduce one-way traffic for the citizens visiting Puri on the car festival.
Additional 300 life guards will be deployed in Puri sea beach.
Security will also be tightened in Puri Railway station.
