Bhubaneswar: The Odisha farmers will finally get the benefit from Centre’s Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme as the Odisha government has decided to implement the scheme in State.
At a high level meeting chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi, it was decided that list of farmers will be given to the centre. It was informed by the chief secretary after the meeting.
Nearly 13 lakh small and marginal farmers will be covered under the scheme in first phase.
Initially, a list of around 12.45 lakh farmers who availed the benefit under State-owned KALIA scheme in the first phase will be given to the centre. The state government will upload the list of beneficiaries in next two days.
The farmers will get the three installments of Rs 2,000 each under the scheme. The amount will be transferred directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary farmers.
Odisha Government’s decision of implementing PM-KISAN will ensure additional financial assistance for the farmers of the state, who are already getting benefits under the KALIA scheme.
In the recent Budget 2019, the Centre announced the PM Kisan scheme for the assured income support to the farmers.
Under the scheme, the vulnerable landholding farmer families, having cultivable land upto 2 hectares, will be provided direct income support at the rate of Rs 6,000 per year.
PM Modi will launch the scheme on February 24 nationwide.
