Odisha govt urges NNKS to desist from bandh in view of HSC exam

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today urged the Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan (NNKS) to refrain from observing state-wide bandh scheduled for February 21 in view of the annual matriculation examination scheduled to begin a day after the bandh.

In a social media site, the office of the chief minister (CMO) mentioned “Odisha Govt urged Naba Nirman Krushak Sangathan to desist from going on Odisha bandh on 21st February, a day before Matriculation Exam, which would inconvenience examinees, parents and teachers and disrupt movement of questions papers.

High School Certificate (HSC) Examination or the Matriculation examinations 2019 will begin from February 22.  The examinations will be held till March 8.

The NNKS has called for a dawn-to-dusk bandh to protest anti-farmer policies of government. The outfit has been demanding price, prestige and pension for the farmers.

During the bandh, members of NNKS will strongly protest against the police atrocity and press their long-standing demands of price, prestige and pension, NNKS convener Akshya Kumar said.

Yesterday, the BJP announced to support the movement of the farmers’ outfit.
