Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today turned down the proposal of National Highway Authority of India to construct the highway connecting Satapada to Puri.
At a high level meeting chaired by chief secretary AP Padhi, the NHAI authorities discussed the matter with the officials. The NHAI proposed to upgrade the exsisting Satapada-Puri road to a highway.
The State officials didn’t agree with such proposal because the Satapada-Puri road will remain 10 km away from the proposed Konark-Astarang coastal highway, Works secretary Nalini Kant Pradhan said.
The NHAI has been asked to make fresh alignment, he added. Two signature bridges are proposed to be constructed in Chilika lake. Special attention has been given to protect the natural habitat of dolphin and others, he added.
