OMFED signs MoU with National Dairy Board to increase milk production

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to enhance milk production in State, the Orissa State Cooperative Milk Producers Federation (OMFED) has signed an agreement with National Dairy Development Board for establishment of a modern dairy plant having a capacity of 5 lakh litres per day (LPD) in the state.

Informing this at a workshop titled “Role Of Livestock Sector for Improving Livelihood, Food Security and Safety” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the milk process capacity of OMFED will be doubled from 6.4 LPD to 12 LPD.

Vitamin Fortified Milk and Cow Milk, two new products have been launched by OMFED, he added.

The workshop was organized by Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Department on the occasion of World Veterinary Day.
