Paradip: The Government of India has aimed at making Paradip port no 1 in the country. The government has plan to invest Rs 1 lakh crore in the port in which 50,000 job opportunities will be created, said Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources Nitin Gadkari. The port will be the growth engine of Odisha, he added.
While inaugurating various projects worth Rs 431 crore and laying foundation stone of for six projects, Gadkari said Paradip has played a major role in transporting coal and fishes to outside the country.
The port had a net profit of 340 crore when the BJP came to power but the profit will reach Rs 750 crore by the end of 2018-19. It will also give Rs 1700 crore revenue, he asserted.
The road transport ministry has aimed at spending Rs 2.50 lakh crore in different projects in Odisha, he added.
The Union Minister inaugurated a Multipurpose Clean Cargo Berth of capacity 50 lakh tons per year, built at a cost of Rs 431 Crore in Paradip.
The Minister also laid foundation stone for 6 projects at the port including LPG terminal, coal handling berth, multi modal logistic park etc.
Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan was present on the occasion. Pradhan congratulated a young entrepreneur from Paradip, Chinmaya Bal for setting up Tidal Trading Pvt Ltd with the support of Indian Oil Ltd. Odia youth have to come forward and aspire to become job providers rather than become job seeker, he added.
