‘Phethai’ weakens into low pressure; thunderstorm continues in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Cyclone Phethai is weakening into a low pressure gradually while moving towards north-east direction after making a landfall in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.

The system will weaken into a low pressure in next 12 hours. Under its influence, rain continues in many southern and western Odisha districts. Bolangir recorded a maximum 92.4 mm rain while Sambalpur witnessed 74.4 mm followed by Sonepur, Koraput and Gopalpur where 67.8mm, 57 mm and 54 mm rain were recorded repectively.

Thunderstorm is prevailing in coastal odisha. The IMD predicted a change in the weather system in the afternoon.
