Pics of Srimandir premises go viral; accused cop suspended

Puri: Photos of Sri Jagannath Temple’s premises are doing rounds on social media after a police official posted his photos of ‘Pindadana’ being performed by him on Baisi Pahacha of the shrine.

Sub-inspector Dillip Panda of Seabeach Police station uploaded the pictures on his facebook account. He clicked the pictures while performing ‘Pindadana’ on Baichi Pahacha. Soon after the news surfaced in media, he deleted the controversial posts. He was suspended on the issue.

The incident raised question over security system at the 12th century shrine where cameras, video recording devices and mobile phones are strictly prohibited.

Security personnel deployed at the four gates of Srimandir have been told to prevent pilgrims from carrying any electronic gadgets.
