Bhubaneswar: Odisha is likely to experience the pre-monsoon rain in the first week of june as the south-west monsoon hit the Kerala coast today and will spread to the its interiror areas within 48 hours, said weather department today.
If conditions are favourable, Odisha will heave a sigh of relief from the gruelling heat with the pre-monsoon rain in June first week, said regional meteorological centre director Sarat Sahu.
“Formation of a low pressure area near Kerala coast and East Central Arabian Sea is favouring the movement of the monsoon. If conditions remain favourable, monsoon will hit Odisha coast by June 10,” he added.
Sahu further added that current thunderstorm activities in the State will also help the monsoon movement.
The heat wave condition will decrease after June 1 as the mercury will continue to dip from 40 degrees Celcius in interior and coastal pockets, Sahu added.
