Cuttack: Justice Raghubir Das today assumed office as the chairman of the judicial commission set up to probe the circumstances leading to mysterious missing of the keys of inner Ratna Bhandar (treasury) of Sri Jagannath temple in Puri.
Das, a retired High Court judge, began his work at Cuttack Circuit House from today with seeking suggestions, views through affidavits from individuals, groups, government agencies and NGOs on the missing keys. The last date of filing affidavits is June 25, Das said.
The first meeting of Commission will be held on July 30 at Puri Circuit House.
As per the three terms of references (TORs) published in the gazette notification, the Judicial Commission will examine the sequence of events prior to the missing of ‘Ratna Bhandar’ key and also the circumstances leading to non-availability of key.
The State Government has given three months time to complete the inquiry. If necessitated, the Commission will seek more time to examine, inquire and report on the matter, Das had earlier informed.
