Bhubaneswar: Speculation is flying thick and fast that sitting Congress MLA from Salipur Prakash Behera may quit his party in a day or two and is most likely to join BJP.
According to reports, Behera has consulted his supporters on his future course of action and may tender his resignation very soon.
Earlier, speculation was rife that he would join BJD and contest on BJD ticket from Salipur ever since he was spotted in a banner of ‘PEETHA’ programme with Naveen Patnaik.
The speculation of joining BJD came to an end when BJD minister Pratap Jena had recently advocated for Prashant Behera for BJD candidature in Salipur.
Behera was also seen maintaining distance from Congress in several occasions. Recently, he had organised a padyatra with party banner and symbol.
Meanwhile, Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, who resigned from BJD yesterday, is likely to switch over to the saffron party in New Delhi tomorrow. He had resigned from BJD yesterday citing that his service.
BJP National vice-president Baijayant Panda today said more and more senior leaders will join the BJP to dethrone BJD-government.
Yesterday, veteran leader Damodar Rout also joined the BJP.
