Sambalpur tense after double murder

Sambalpur: Violence broke out at Thelakopada area here in the city following murder of two youths belonging to two rival groups today.

Police sources said a youth identified as Pandab Mukhi of Thelakopada had past enmity with one Sujit Nag of the same locality. Mukhi had a verbal altercation with Nag in the morning over some reasons that made Mukhi angry. He chased Nag with a sharp weapon and hacked him repeatedly leaving him grievously injured. Locals rushed him to hospital. However, he succumbed to the injuries on the way.

Irked, the supporters and neighbours of the deceased attacked the family members of the accused in which brother of Pandab identified as Sankar was killed. The irate locals also set afire the house of Pandab.

Massive security forces have been mobilised as the entire area has remained tense. Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem and started investigation.
