Satrughna Pandav to receive ‘Sarala Puraskar’ for ‘Misra Dhrupad’

Bhubaneswar: Renowned litterateur and eminent Odia poet Satrughna Pandav has been selected to receive the prestigious ‘Sarala Puraskar’ for his poetry collection ‘Misra Dhrupad’.

Pandav will be honoured with the award on October 26 at a special event. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5,00,000 and a citation.

The 39th edition of the award was announced by the Sarala Puraskar Committee at its meeting here on Friday, a release from IMPaCT, the charitable wing of Indian Metal and Ferro Alloys (IMFA) Group, said.

Two other eminent personalities of Odisha will also be honoured for their contribution in the field of music and art, the release said.

Pandeet Umesh Chandra Kar will be awarded the ‘Ila Panda Sangeet Samman’ and Binod Moharana will receive the ‘Ila Panda Chitrakala Samman’, it said.

They will receive a cash award of Rs 1,50,000 each along with citations.

Eminent novelist Govind Mishra will be the chief guest at the Sarala Puraskar function which will be held here on October 26.

The ‘Sarala Puraskar’ was instituted by eminent Odia industrialist late Dr Bansidhar Panda and late Ila Pnada in 1979 and awarded by the Indian Metals Public Charitable Trust (IMPaCT).
