Bhubaneswar: Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik took oath as acting Governor of Odisha on Wednesday.
Malik was administered oath by Orissa High Court Chief Justice Vineet Saran in a function at Raj Bhavan here.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in the Assembly Narasingha Mishra were among the dignitaries presented during the oath-taking ceremony.
Malik arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport today afternoon. He was welcomed by CM Patnaik, Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi, DGP Dr Rajendra Prasad Sharma, Bhubaneswar Mayor Anata Narayan Jena and others at the airport.
Later, he was given guard of honour at Raj Bhavan.
Malik would discharge the functions of Governor of Odisha, in addition to his own duties until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Odisha is made.
Malik was appointed as the Governor of Bihar in September last year. He was elected to the Lok Sabha from Aligarh in 1989. He was also a member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh during 1980-86 and 1986-1992.
