Sambalpur: The 2004-batch IPS officer Satyabrata Bhoi took charge as the new Northern Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) here on Wednesday.
Bhoi took charge from Sambalpur SP Sanjeev Arora, who was bestowed with the additional charge of DIG.
“I started my career from Sambalpur during my probation period. I am happy that I am back to my initial place of working as the DIG,” said Bhoi after assuming the office.
“Sambalpur range is a very prestigious and big range. As many as five districts fall under the northern range. There are many challenges here, including the Maoists problems. I hope with the support of all the five Superintendents of Police, we will be able to face every challenge,” added Bhoi.
Notably, Bhoi was recently promoted to the DIG rank and posted in the Northern Range DIG, Sambalpur.
Bhoi was appointed as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) of Bhubaneswar succeeding Nitinjit Singh in the year 2014. He also served as the SP of Jagatsinghpur before taking the charge as Bhubaneswar DCP.
