Bhubaneswar: Voters in Odisha will exercise their franchise through Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) at 37606 booths across the State in forthcoming elections as State Election Commission is now armed with 89337 ballot units and 89351 VVPAT machines to conduct elections.
Informing this, Chief Electoral Officer Surendra Kumar today briefed media that final voter list will be released on January 21. The VVPAT will be used at all booths across the State for the first time, he added.
Application for the rectification and inclusion of name in voter list is over. 95 per cent of form verification work has been completed by last evening. Remaining works will be over in two or three days, he added.
The voters whose name is not included in the voter list can also apply for the same after January 21. They have to apply 10 days before the last date of filing nomination.
This time, the election commission identified as many as 2 lakh physically challenged voters through special exercise.
