Bhadrak: The prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC imposed by the Bhadrak district administration since March 17, was relaxed for eight hours today in Bhadrak town and nearby areas for Ram Navami sankirtan and procession.
Bhadrak district Collector Gyana Das said that Section 144 will be relaxed from 12 noon till 10 pm for Ram Navami Sankirtan and procession in Bhadrak municipality and nearby areas.
On Sunday, the Bhadrak district administration shut down internet services in Bhadrak town for the next 48 hours as precautionary measure to maintain communal harmony ahead of Ram Navami.
Notably, communal riots had triggered in Bhadrak on April 5 last year after some persons of a particular community allegedly posted vulgar remarks on Hindu deities ahead of Ram Navami on social media.
On Saturday, following the Orissa High Court ordered stay on the prohibitory orders, the district administration too lifted the Section 144 for five hours following which Kalash Sobhayatra for Ram Navami was carried out in the city.
Yajna and other rituals are being held to mark the Ram Navami on Sunday.
Notably, communal-charged Bhadrak town had witnessed communal tension during Ram Navami celebrations and anticipating a similar law and order situation this year, the district administration had clamped prohibitory orders on Kalash sobhaytra, Sankirtan and procession to thwart possible law and order and also shut down internet services.
