Sexual abuse in shelter home: Dharmendra writes to Rajnath Singh for action against NGO

Bhubaneswar: Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan has sought exemplary action against the Good News India, the NGO running Dream Centre Shelter Home at Beltikri in Dhenkanal district, which was allegedly indulging in conversion activities under the patronage of the State Government.

In a letter to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Pradhan stated that the NGO received huge amount of funds from various foreign orgnasiations. Out of 26 shelter homes running under it, 15 are illegal, he added. Being aware of it, the State government has acted as a mute spectator.

He shot off the letter on the basis of the report of Odisha BJP Mahila Morcha’s fact finding team, which found the NGO was not only exploiting the inmates sexually but forcibly converting their religion.

BJP Mahila Morcha president Pravati Parida, who led the fact-finding team to Beltikri also accused the NGO of trafficking some of the children abroad.
