Puri: In the wake of the Supreme Court’s directive, the Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Monday imposed restriction on servitors in receiving devotees’ donation during Rath Yatra which will be held on July 14.
In a bid to implement the SC ruling, the temple administration has decided to install 12 hundis (Donation box) in each chariot on the day of mega religious event. This apart, six hundies will be put at Gundicha Temple, informed SJTA Chief Administrator Pradipta Mohapatra.
With due respect to apex court order, the temple administration had issued public notice urging devotees not to give donation to the servitors in the temple, said Mohapatra.
Notably, the court’s ruling has invited mixed reactions from various quarters even as the servitors were disappointed with such directive.
