Bhubaneswar: After implementing Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana for working journalists, the State Government on Thursday announced more benefits for them.
As per the announcement made by the State Government, financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh will be provided in case of death of a working journalist. Top up financial assistance with DMET approval in addition to the Health Insurance benefit for critical illness will be provided where the expenditure exceeds Rs 2 lakh under the recently launched Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana.
The working journalists will be entitled to get 3 per cent interest subvention up to 25 lakh house building loans and four wheeler loan up to Rs 4 lakh. The subvention will be released annually after repayment of regular instalments with interest by the loanee journalists.
Financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh for the journalists in case of permanent incapacitation will also be provided.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today took directed the Information and Public Relations Department to implement the benefits immediately.
Earlier on May 31, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik launched “Gopabandhu Sambadika Swasthya Bima Yojana” for working journalists. The health insurance scheme for working journalists will be implemented with effect from June 1, 2018.
In the first phase, as many as 3,233 working journalists from across the state will get health insurance coverage up to Rs 2 lakh.
