Srimandir collects 16kg gold, Rs 7068 cash from hundi: Minister

Bhubaneswar: The sri Jagannath temple has found over 16 kg gold and around Rs 7068 lakh cash from the donation box by July 2018. It was known from the reply of Law Minister Pratap Jena while responding to the query of BJP MLA Dilip Ray in the Assembly today.

The minister informed that since installation of hundi on August 23, 1983, devotees have donated Rs 7067.92775 lakh cash by the end of July. During this period, the temple also received 16.15 kg gold donation from devotees out of which 14.560 kg gold has been kept in the locker of SBI, he said, adding the government is preparing the silver items donated by the devotees.

On a query of Ray that what measures have been taken to assess the amount of valuable properties in Ratna Bhandar, Jena replied that missing of Ratna Bhandar key came to the government notice on April 4, 2018. The ratna Bhandar properties will be counted after the inquiry commission ended investigation into key missing incident.
