Bhubaneswar: The three-day State level folk dance and music festival has begun here at Utkal Mandap from Monday.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the event in presence of Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, MP Prasanna Patsani, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Mohanty and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Anant Narayan Jena.
The Chief Minister also inaugurated 30 folk art villages of all districts and unveiled a partnership programme for propagation of folk arts in rural areas.
The CM also felicitated some artists who have contributed much to the field of art and culture.
More than 2, 000 artists from all districts will participate in the three-day event.
On the inaugural evening, Jodisankha of Ganjam, Sambalpuri of Sambalpur, Ganabaja of Nuapada, Chhau of Mayurbhanj enthralled the audience. Similarly, Bajasal of Kalahandi, Karama of Sundargarh, Laudi Nrutya of Dhenkanal, Paika Akhada of Khurda, Dhanakoila of Cuttack and Gotipua Nrutya of Puri were also major attraction of the evening.
Among others, Tourism and Culture Minister Ashok Panda, Bhubaneswar MP Prasanna Patsani, MLAs Priyadarshi Mishra, Bijay Mohanty and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Mayor Anant Narayan Jena were also present.
