Bhubaneswar: The Centre has notified all the States and Union Territories regarding the decision to hike honorarium to Anganwadi workers. It was informed by Union Minister for WCD, Maneka Gandhi, while referring to the letter of Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
In a letter to Pradhan, Gandhi stated: “The Government’s decision on the enhancement of honorarium to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs), Anganwadi Helpers (AWHs) under Anganwadi Services effective from October 1, 2018, has already been conveyed to all States and Union Territories.
The Central share of grants-in-aid amounting to Rs.16694.38 Lakh for 3rd & 4th quarters of the current financial year has already been released to the Government of Odisha towards the enhanced honorarium, the letter further read.
The Ministry has been requesting the States/ UTs (including Government of Odisha) to fill up the vacancies at the earliest, she added.
“The States and UTs have also been requested to delegate powers to the District Magistrates/ District Collectors for filling up the vacancies of AWWs, (AWHs) across the country and Supervisors (promotion quota) in Aspirational districts,” the letter further reads.
Earlier on January 25, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had written to Gandhi regarding the implementation of Anganwadi Services in Odisha, particularly, issues relating to honorarium to field functionaries, utilisation certificates against grants-in-aid released to the State Government and vacancies in various grades under Anganwadi Services.
