Cuttack: After successful implementation of student traffic volunteer scheme in Police Commissionerate Bhubaneswar-Cuttack, Odisha police has decided to extend the scheme to five more cities to regulate better traffic and create more awareness.
Odisha police informed this through a tweet. STVS, launched last year in #Bhubaneswar & #Cuttack has yielded great results. After seeing the successful implementation of the scheme in these 2 cities, we’ve decided to extend it to Rourkela, Sambalpur, Berhampur, Balasore & Koraput district of #Odisha”, DGP, Odisha tweeted.
They will be provided with requisite training and will assist the traffic police in traffic management in the city. The volunteers will also be involved in traffic awareness and have been provided with identity card, certificate, shoe, cap and T-shirt to avoid any kind of confrontation, sources said.
The scheme (STVS) was launched last year in the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar commissionerate police.
