Tantrik’s bid to resurrect dead man at Bolangir hospital

Bolangir: The government medical college and hospital here today witnessed a bizarre superstitious activity when a tantric was found applying black magic to restore life on a 15-year-old dead boy at the morgue of hospital.

Sources said Madhu Payasingh (15) of Digasira village under Sindhekela police limits was bitten by a poisonous snake on October 2. He was initially admitted to Titilagarh hospital and later shifted to the medical college after his condition deteriorated.

He died yesterday at around 12 noon while undergoing treatment. However, the family members did not agree with the doctors. They called up a sorcery practitioner from Kalahandi to bring their son back to life. The tantrik reached the spot and applied black magic for hours to revive the dead boy.

However, he failed and the family members ultimately received the body for cremation.

Such superstitious practice is not uncommon in the state.

Earlier, relatives of a deceased used the services of a tantrik via mobile phone to bring him back to life in Jaleswar town of Balasore district. Two days after, a tantrik also resorted to similar superstition to bring a dead person to life at Thakurmunda in Mayurbhanj district.
