Bhubaneswar: Even as the Centre has not yet introduced regular flight services from the second airport of Odisha in Jharsuguda, the government has signalled for the setting up of third airport in the State.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted license for an airport in Rourkela. It was informed by the ministry of Civil Aviation.
In a tweet, the ministry stated “The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has issued license for third airport of Odhisa on 7/1/19 for Rourkela; also known to be the industrial capital of the state of #Odhisa. It will pave opportunities to connect the steel city with rest of the nation”.
In September, 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had inaugurated the Jharsuguda airport and renamed it after noted freedom fighter Veer Surendra Sai.
