Bhubaneswar: A day after Odisha government confirmed 26 casualties due to cyclone ‘Titli’ and resultant flood, the number of deaths today reached 52.
Talking to media, Padhi admitted that 52 people have died in the calamity across the State. 10 missing cases are being investigated, he added after a review meeting.
Gajapati registered maximum 39 casualties while 12 were killed in Ganjam and one in Kandhamal district, SRC Bishnupada Sethi informed on the basis of district administration’s report.
An estimated Rs 2200 crore loss has been reported due to the devastating cyclone and flood. The road damage registered Rs 500 crore loss while Energy department suffered Rs 133 crore loss. Similarly, an estimated loss of Rs 150 crore has been reported in house damage while crop losses stands at Rs 233 crore, Padhi said.
The government will receive the final report within a day or two. The losses will be compensated from State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), Chief Secretary AP Padhi said, adding Centre will be requested for assistance if required.
