Bhubaneswar: The cyclone Titli is very likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm in next three to four hours. It is likely to move northwestwards from tonight and cross Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts between Gopalpur and Kalingapatnam on Thursday morning, Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi said.
Titli is centered at about 320 km southeast of Gopalpur in Odisha and 270 km east-southeast of Kalingapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. after intensifying into a severe cyclonic storm, Titli is likely to make landfall at 5.30am tomorrow.
The weather department issued red warning for seven districts including Ganjam, Gajapati, Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara and orange warning for eight districts like Dhenkanal, Khurdha,Nayagarh, Cuttack, Jajpur, Rayagada, Kandhamal and Keonjhar.
Yellow warning has been issued for rest of the district which will experience heavy rain. All the collectors have been asked to remain alert to face any untoward incident. Adequate amount of dry food have been put in places. People in lower areas and other sensitive places have been taken to cyclone shelter centres. ODRAF and NDRF teams have been sent to different areas and some personnel have been kept on standby at headquarters, Sethi said.
The cyclone is likely to damage more in Ganjam, Puri, Gajapati districts. Electric poles, telephone towers, big trees may be uprooted, he added.
