Top Maoist Alik Chakravarty remanded to 10-day police custody

Bhubaneswar: Kolkata police today took top naxal leader Alik Chakravarty on 10-day remand. The Kolkata Crime Branch, which had arrested the top Maoist from Bhubaneswar, moved the court seeking 14-day remand. However, court had allowed the probe agency to take him on 10 days remand.

Chakravarty was arrested two days ago from Kalinga Hospital in Bhubaneswar. He was admitted to the private hospital for health check.

On a tip-off, a joint team of Bhubaneswar police and Kolkata Crime Branch raided the hospital and arrested him.

Several cases are pending against him at different police stations of West Bengal.
