Top Maoist Manoj Madkami escapes from court premises

Nuapada: Most wanted Maoist Manoj Madkami who was arrested on May 30 in Komna of Nuapada district, today managed to give a slip to police while he was taken to court.

While police were taking him to Nuapada SDJM court from the local sub-jail for regular attendance, the Maoist hit the constable in-charge of his security and jumped the boundary wall of the court and ran away. Police launched a search to nab him.

The 29-year-old naxal was arrested on May 30 during a combing operation at Patpani village area under Komna police limits in the district. He is a resident of Ponjer village under Gangloor police limits of Bijapur in Chhattisgarh.

Manoj, who was carrying a cash reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head, was the area committee member of Gandhamardan Local Organising Squad (LOS) under Balangir-Bargarh-Mahasamund division.

Manoj was involved in a number of Maoist attacks that occurred in Bargarh of Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
